Giving a voice to young people involved in agricultural training
Espace Jeunes

SPOTLIGHT ON YOUNG PEOPLE AT SPACE

The Espace Jeunes aims to give a voice to young people involved in agricultural training and to contribute to the renewal of generations in the agricultural world.
Set up for the first time in 2022, it brings together hundreds of students every year to promote livestock farming training and careers.
The Youth forum is a joint project with the agricultural education networks (CNEAP, public and MFR) and higher education establishments: Institut Agro Rennes-Angers (ex-Agro Campus) and Ecole Supérieure des Agricultures d'Angers (ESA).

A new concept to reach a new audience

In 2024, a number of students taking part in the debates expressed their concern about the sometimes negative perception of agriculture by the general public, and deplored the repercussions it can have on the image of agricultural careers and the training courses leading to them. In response, a new concept has been devised for this year's Youth Forum: young people in agricultural training will be showing off their future careers to young people from general education.

Two events will be organised during SPACE. Middle and high school students from the Rennes area will be coming to meet students from the CNEAP, MFRs and public education, as well as the Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, the Ecole Supérieure des Agricultures d'Angers and the Oniris veterinary school.

The objective? To help them discover agriculture and the diversity of jobs in the sector, the wide range of training courses available (from vocational diplomas to engineering degrees),

The future actors of the animal farming sector and the digital

Once again, engineering students from the Institut Agro Rennes-Angers and the Ecole Supérieure des Agricultures d'Angers will be giving their views on the subject of Espace for The Future.

Accompanied by teacher-researchers, they will be debating digital technology and AI.

A High School Newspaper

La terre demain
After a successful first edition, the partnership with the association for the development of the Journal Des Lycées (JDL) and the DRAAF is being renewed this year. The aim is to produce a newspaper based on the Show.

Four MFRs will be producing the newspaper this year: Goven, Lamballe, Montauban de Bretagne and Saint Symphorien - Hédé, under the banner of the Fédération départementale des MFR 35.

An editorial board has been set up, composed of a team of high-school editors led by teachers, with support from a professional journalist.

To gather the information they need to write the newspaper, the young reporters will visit SPACE. Beforehand, they will have defined the subjects they wish to cover to meet the relevant players in the world of livestock farming.

Farming: A collaborative profession

During the workshop, three students spoke and discussed their experiences with students from Bac to BTS.Accompanied by a young farmer, a farmer who created content and a representative from ANEFA Finistère, they were able to discuss a wide range of subjects: their career paths, their expectations, the image of agriculture, etc.

Appeal, transition and next-generation farmers: engineers are choosing farming too!

Student engineers discussed the assets needed to set up a successful business. Former students who are now farm managers and teacher-researchers also had the opportunity to talk about the livestock farming profession.
