Tech'Agri Challenge

Students innovate for agriculture
Tech'Agri Challenge

The innovation competition for young people in the agricultural sector

Initiated by Bretagne Développement Innovation, INNOZH and SPACE, aims to encourage young people in training to reflect on concrete agricultural issues and to design technical solutions together to address these issues.
The competition is aimed at agricultural and digital training students and institutions at all levels (vocational bachelor's degree, BTS, bachelor's degree, master's degree, engineer, etc.) who wish to apply their skills to real-life agricultural issues.
Taking part in this challenge gives students from digital training courses the chance to identify job openings and opportunities that they may not have initially thought of. For agricultural students, this exercise allows them to step outside their training environment to imagine, design and test technological solutions in project mode.

Which format?

The students are assigned different roles: agriculture students as customers and digital students as suppliers.
The competition features an innovative project management format that combines a tight timeframe with 2 days of face-to-face sessions (launching and closing) and a longer timeframe with several months of remote development.
The students present their projects at SPACE on a dedicated booth. A jury of professionals select the winning teams.

NEW THIS YEAR

The Tech'Agri Challenge 2024 focus on two categories:
The Demonstrator category: students will present a prototype based on functional specifications drawn up by agricultural students, in order to verify the relevance of the technological features and solutions selected.
The Ideation category: students will present a problem, contextualize it and define a list of features to be developed in response to the problem.

Key figures for 2024

  • 19 students taking part in the competition (a third of them from the tech sector)

  • 5 schools : Lycée Kerlebost, Lycée CFA CFPA de Caulnes, MFR de Loudéac, EPSI Rennes et ISEN Brest

  • 5 projects submitted: 2 in the Ideation category, 3 in the Demonstrator category

  • 3 days of presentations at SPACE
FLASHBACK ON 2024 TECH'AGRI CHALLENGE

Ideation Award-Winner Cows’Lights

The Cows'Lights project, developed by 5 students from Lycée Kerlebost near Pontivy and EPSI Rennes, won the Idéation trophy. The concept? A luminous plug-in added to the cow identification collars uses a colour code to indicate the 5 possible anomalies encountered by the animals: milking robot delay, lameness, heat detection, animal to be dried off or cow not ruminating.
The key for farmers is to have the information they need to run their business effectively, visible to the naked eye and quickly available on a computer or laptop so they can take action as quickly as possible.

Demonstrator award-winner E-carte Rose

The E-carte Rose project, developed by 2 ISEN students, digitises bovine pink cards via a mobile application for cattle farmers, transporters and vets. The E-carte Rose offers a number of functions:
  • individual monitoring of cattle
  • declaration of animal births and deaths
  • transfer animals between farms or to the abattoir
  • view and enter information on the care and vaccinations administered to animals
  • generation of digital PDF pink cards, accessible by scanning a QR Code
