A robot dog guided by AI to bring in poultry at nightfall
The poultry robot dog, developed by Maïsadour in collaboration with Evotech, is an autonomous quadruped robot designed to assist farmers in the daily management of their poultry farms. It automates a time-consuming and labor-intensive task: herding chickens back into their shelters at dusk in free-range farming systems. By simplifying this task, it helps improve working conditions for farmers, thereby enhancing the appeal of the profession and supporting the transfer of agricultural operations.
Equipped with artificial intelligence, the robot detects poultry around the shelters, moves easily among trees and obstacles in the pasture, and automatically triggers the closing of building hatches based on ambient light and sunset time. It returns to a dedicated charging station, known as the "kennel," and notifies the farmer of task completion or alerts them in case of any issues.
The robot also plays a role in animal protection by deterring wild predators, thus contributing to improved animal welfare.
