Liquefaction of biogas from anaerobic digestion to produce bioLNG & bioCO2

Biogas liquefaction is a world-first innovation that enables a 200-fold increase in the energy density produced by an anaerobic digester, overcoming a technical barrier that had remained unresolved until now. Through specific temperature and pressure conditions combined with a carrier agent, the biogas is liquefied and can be transported by tanker truck to a processing hub. There, the biomethane is converted into bioLNG, the bioCO2 is locally valorized, and the carrier agent is reused in a new cycle. This technology will enable the pooling of production from several digesters at a single site, making local production of renewable fuels and bioCO2 accessible. It paves the way for on-farm anaerobic digestion, particularly for farms located far from the gas grid or producing low gas volumes. By connecting biomass production and consumption sites, this technology helps replace fossil fuels with local low-carbon alternatives while strengthening the resilience of agricultural operations.
