Automatic piglet weight estimation
SmaRt Weight is an add-on feature for the SmaRt Counting platform, designed for piglets up to 10 kg leaving the farrowing unit. As animals move through the counting alley, the system automatically tracks them across multiple images, aggregates visual measurements and estimates the lot’s average weight and weight dispersion, without manual weighing or a detour to a truck scale. A simple user calibration is sufficient, with no on-site installation and no specific preventive maintenance. The innovation turns a counter into an objective production-management tool: immediate, time-stamped data that can be integrated into farm-management software. Technically, it brings precision, consistency and a new uniformity indicator. Economically, it reduces collection time, transport costs and supports a recurring subscription model. Environmentally and socially, it limits extra trips, emissions, piglet stress and biosecurity risks, while improving trust between farmers, transporters and nurseries.
