Booster vaccination in laying period for the longest-lasting protection
Thanks to a booster in lay around the 50th week, AviPro™ Salmonella DUO is the only live oral vaccine that contains the 2 strains Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium, and which protects up to 100 weeks against Salmonella Enteritidis and up to 94 weeks against Salmonella Typhimurium.
Thanks to the zero-day withdrawal period, the implementation of the booster in lay allows for the protection of the layer flock and consumers while ensuring the continuity of marketing eggs.
Presented in the form of a lyophilizate for administration via drinking water, this vaccine intended for chickens, turkeys, and ducks reproduces the natural mode of infection to stimulate local and systemic immunity while minimizing the stress of administration for the animals and the farmer. The vaccination schedule includes 3 administrations: a 1st dose possible from the 1st day of life, a 2nd between the 6th and 8th week, and a 3rd around the 16th week of life, at least 3 weeks before the start of lay. The booster in lay is then recommended around the 50th week of life.

This product is a veterinary medicinal product. Read the package leaflet and the indications on the packaging carefully before use. Seek advice from your veterinarian. If symptoms persist, consult your veterinarian.
Target species: Chickens (breeders and layers), turkeys (future breeders and turkeys intended for meat production), ducks (intended for meat production). Indications: In chickens (future breeder chickens and future layer chickens): Active immunization of healthy and susceptible chickens in order to reduce faecal excretion and colonization of internal organs by field strains of Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium and to reduce colonization of eggs by field strains of Salmonella Enteritidis. Onset of immunity: 15 days. Duration of immunity: 52 weeks against a virulent strain of S. Enteritidis and 46 weeks against a virulent strain of S. Typhimurium from the last vaccination when the product is used according to the recommended vaccination schedule. In breeder turkeys and turkeys intended for meat production: Active immunization of healthy and susceptible turkeys to reduce colonization of internal organs by field strains of Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium. Generally, colonization of internal organs of vaccinated turkeys subjected to a bacterial challenge is reduced compared to non-vaccinated turkeys; a statistically significant reduction could not be demonstrated in all cases. Onset of immunity: 21 days after the first vaccination. Duration of immunity: in future breeders: 30 weeks against a virulent strain of Salmonella Enteritidis and 28 weeks against a virulent strain of Salmonella Typhimurium from the last vaccination when the product is used according to the recommended vaccination schedule. In turkeys intended for meat production: 10 weeks against a virulent strain of Salmonella Enteritidis and against a virulent strain of Salmonella Typhimurium from the last vaccination when the product is used according to the recommended vaccination schedule. In ducks intended for meat production: Active immunization of healthy and susceptible ducks to reduce colonization of internal organs by field strains of Salmonella Typhimurium. Onset of immunity: 22 days. Duration of immunity: 43 days. Contra-indications: None. Special precautions for use: Personal protective equipment consisting of gloves must be worn when handling the veterinary medicinal product. Open the vial only under water to avoid any spray effect. Wash and disinfect hands after handling the vaccine. Do not ingest. In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label. The vaccine strains are sensitive to many antibiotics including quinolones (ciprofloxacin). As the vaccine has been prepared with live attenuated microorganisms, appropriate measures must be taken to avoid any contamination of the handler or other persons collaborating in the process. Vaccinated birds may excrete the vaccine strains. Immunocompromised persons are advised to avoid any contact with the vaccine and recently vaccinated birds. The veterinary medicinal product must not be administered by pregnant women. Personnel involved in the care of vaccinated birds must follow general hygiene principles (change of clothes, wearing gloves, cleaning and disinfection of boots) and take special precautions when handling waste and litter produced by vaccinated chickens for up to 19 weeks after vaccination, by vaccinated ducks for 28 days after vaccination, and by vaccinated turkeys for up to 63 days after vaccination. Withdrawal period(s): Chickens: meat and offal, eggs = 21 days after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd vaccination dose. Zero days after the 4th vaccination dose. For ducks: meat, offal and eggs: 21 days.
