Decision making tool for antiparasitic drug treatments
ANTHELMOGRAM is a new automated diagnostic test designed to monitor the efficacy of dewormers against parasitic worms in sheep, goats and cattle. Mirroring the principle of an "antibiogram," the test is a decision making tool for animal health professionals, guiding their choice of treatments and management practices in livestock. This in vitro test relies on the paralysis quantification of parasite larval stages in the presence of dewormers. It allows for the detection of emerging resistance to different molecules and the evaluation of preventive / curative measures for controlling resistant parasites on farms. ANTHELMOGRAM addresses the main limitations of current methodologies, as it requires only a single sample collection, provides a diagnosis for several antiparasitic drugs simultaneously, and does not require any animal treatment. Thus, ANTHELMOGRAM represents a major innovation for the optimized management of antiparasitic drugs.
