Foodbasket7 is a free web-based tool that enables users to build a weekly food basket in just a few minutes.
The tool then provides a simple and visual assessment of two complementary dimensions:
- the nutritional quality of the diet, through the coverage of 28 essential nutrients (proteins, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids) defined according to the user’s profile, including age, sex and physical activity level ;
- the environmental impacts of the food basket, such as greenhouse gas emissions, water use, land use, etc.
The innovation of Foodbasket7 lies in this holistic approach, which makes it possible to assess a complete dietary pattern rather than individual food items.
For livestock sectors, Foodbasket7 provides a scientific analysis framework to highlight the contribution of animal-based products to a healthy, diverse and sustainable diet, while taking into account the nutritional density of foods.
