Brittany is a major breeding region.

It is the leading agricultural region in France and the leading agri-food region in Europe.

Breton farmers feed the equivalent of one in three French people. More than 60% of the regional territory is devoted to agriculture.

- Turkey: 40% (145 500 tons)

- Duck: 18% (16 800 tons)

- Guinea-fowl: 8% (2 420 tons)

- Eggs for consumption: 42% (6,02 billion eggs)

IN WESTERN FRANCE:

57% of French poultry meat is produced in the Western region of France

It represents nearly 10% of the European production

156,000 tons of beef are produced in Brittany in 2020

- Butchered veal: 19% (32 810 tons)

- Heifers: 8% (18 210 tons)

- Cull cows: 12% (69 420 tons)

- Bull and steers: 8% (35 450 tons)

- Total: 10% (123 080 tons)

42% of national beef production is produced in the Western region of France

14% of Breton farms are engaged in organic farming in 2020 (3,619 farms) compared to 1,000 farms in 2008

6^th French regional in terms of number of organic farms

Main activities: dairy cattle (27%) - poultry (7%) - beef cattle (7%) - sheep (3%)

IN WESTERN FRANCE:

More than one in three farmers are engaged in organic farming

nearly 10,000 farms

more than 70% of the farms involved in organic farming are oriented towards livestock farming:

- 26% of the French suckler cow herd is produced in the Western region of France

- 55% of milk production is produced here, i.e. 500 million litres of organic milk

- 40% of the national breeding sow population

- 23% of the French goat population

- 42% of the national broilers production
